From Mom (Verianese Richard)
Ja'Nyse is a miracle. Most people don't see or believe in miracles today but I am here to say miracles do happen.
I quickly prayed and thanked God. As soon as I could physically get to His altar, I gave her back to Him. Doctors indicated she was critically Ill and no promises could be made on her progress or life.
This was necessary because she was born with extensive cardiovascular and other medical disorders including Di George Syndrome. Di George Syndrome, also known as 22q11.2, is a syndrome caused by the deletion of a small segment of chromosome 22. While the symptoms can vary, they often include congenital heart problems, specific facial features, frequent infections, developmental delay, learning problems and a cleft palate.
Ja'Nyse twin brother, Joseph, and her older brother Monroe Harvey, who was age fourteen, needed nurturing as well. In my despair, I turned to the only one I knew that could heal my pain, Jehovah Rapha God the "Healer."
I bargained with Him to heal her and vehemently promised that
I would lovingly nurture her. I would always do what was best for her life and not what was convenient for me.
In spite of academic and physical challenges my daughter always worked hard and did her best with a graceful attitude.
My husband, Joseph, and I are very blessed to be on this journey with her. The miracle in this is that in spite of all medical procedures the fears and obstacles.
I would not change anything. I see things in a different light now, this light illuminates what is called unconditional love.
November 20th, 2002, God started us on a journey of faith.
This journey began with Ja'Nyse as I gazed upon my beautiful daughter, that day through her gentle grip as she held my finger.
I knew she was special. God placed Ja' Nyse in our life as a testimony of His never-failing grace, unending love, and His constant protection.
This is proven over and over again as she endures numerous surgeries and medical diagnosis that never slowed her down in things she set out to do.
I have witnessed her grow into a beautiful young lady, God's miracle given to us.
Ja'Nyse's Proud Twin Brother
Joseph quickly took on a big brother role. He realized early on that she had a greater need. The twins played together daily.
Ja'Nyse didn't crawl so Joseph would crawl and get a toy or stuffed animal and give her something to play with.
Through her surgeries Joseph understood her illness and showed great concern and compassion.
The twins elementary days showed lots of unconditional love. We loved the way Joseph never made her feel less than normal.
He would tell her it doesn't matter how long it takes you to read your book as long as you complete it. Today he continues to show much love and support for his sister.
"Over the years growing up with Ja'Nyse has been quite an honor. Everyday she reminds me to never give up on anything and to keep fighting. It brings me joy to see my sister so happy and delightful, despite the number of challenges she has been through." Joseph
I am so grateful to God because he has blessed me to be able to do the things that I enjoy doing. I've had the opportunity to participate in cheer, and dance.
Now I am going into my 4th year of theater since the age of 12. Also, I am going into my 2nd year of American Sign Language. I have faith that God will continue to see me through my journey.
