Our Board of Directors

Verianese Richard (Founder)

Verianese Richard is the Founder and Executive Director of Ja’Nyse’s House of Hope. Her vision is rooted in compassion and a deep desire to ensure that no family has to face difficult medical journeys alone.

With a lifelong commitment to serving others, Verianese has volunteered with numerous nonprofit organizations throughout Fort Bend County. She brings over 18 years of experience in women’s Bible studies, where she has encouraged and uplifted others through faith, compassion, and community. She also serves as a board member of For God’s Glory Ministries Inc, further extending her impact through service and leadership.

In addition to her work in ministry and nonprofit leadership, Verianese is a published author of the book From 504 to the Classroom, where she shares insights and experiences that inspire and empower others navigating educational and personal challenges.

Before founding Ja’Nyse’s House of Hope, Verianese spent 28 years as a hairstylist. In that role, she not only built lasting relationships but also used her platform to offer encouragement, kindness, and support to those she served. Her natural ability to care for others—marked by patience, selflessness, and love—continues to guide her leadership today.

She has been happily married for 33 years and is the proud mother of three children. At the heart of everything she does is a passion for serving others and creating a place of hope, comfort, and care for families in need.

Brandi Compton-Joseph, MD

Dr. Brandi Compton-Joseph is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist who has dedicated her career to providing compassionate, comprehensive care to women throughout every stage of life. A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, she currently serves as a Maternal Medical Director at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital and is the owner of Lifestyle Medical Group, PLLC, where she has been caring for patients since 2016 .

Dr. Compton-Joseph’s journey into medicine began at the age of six, when she first recognized what she describes as a divine calling to become a physician. With no prior exposure to medicine beyond her pediatrician, this early sense of purpose became a guiding force in her life. That calling continues to shape her approach to patient care today, grounding her work in both clinical excellence and deep personal commitment.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, with a minor in Chemistry, from Baylor University, graduating cum laude in 2004. During her undergraduate training, she also studied abroad in Querétaro, Mexico, further strengthening her Spanish language skills. She remains proficient in Spanish, allowing her to connect with and care for a broader and more diverse patient population.

Dr. Compton-Joseph earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical School in 2008 and completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Methodist Health System in Dallas in 2012, where she served as Chief Resident . Throughout her career, she has held leadership roles including OB/GYN Department Chairman and Vice Chairman positions, reflecting her dedication not only to patient care but also to advancing the field and mentoring others.

What truly distinguishes Dr. Compton-Joseph is her passion for continuity of care. She is deeply committed to being present for her patients throughout their pregnancy journeys—from the first visit to delivery. She values the trust her patients place in her and strives to be a constant, reassuring presence during one of the most significant experiences of their lives. In fact, she feels a profound sense of responsibility and connection to her patients, often expressing disappointment when circumstances prevent her from being present at their deliveries.

With years of experience spanning private practice, hospital-based care, and academic involvement, Dr. Compton-Joseph combines clinical expertise with heartfelt dedication. Her work is driven not only by skill and training, but by a genuine calling to serve, support, and advocate for the women under her care.
